  • WHAT IS PERMANENT JEWELRY?
Permanent jewelry is a type of jewelry that is clasp-less. Meaning that where there would normally be a manual closure, instead the chain is welded together using a jump ring and a micro welder.
  • WHAT IS THE PROCESS OF A PERMANENT JEWELRY APPOINTMENT?
During your appointment you will first have time to browse our chain, charm and connectors. Next we will measure the area you are wanting your permanent jewelry piece. After measurements, you will be given your price, before tax. Once okayed to start the piece, your linker will cut the chain, (all jewelry is non-refundable after it is cut) add your charms and connectors if desired, and then secure the piece with a small jump ring. Once the piece is secured with the jump ring both you and your linker will wear eye protection and your linker will weld your piece on! You will be given a care package with a polishing cloth and cleaning instructions for your permanent jewelry piece.
  • HOW LONG DOES AN APPOINTMENT TAKE?
From entrance to exit, an appointment can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. linked+layered has each appointment slot booked for one hour in order to not feel rushed.
  • WHERE CAN I GET THIS DONE?
linked+layered offers bookable appointments in a private studio in Rosemount, MN. linked+layered also offers to come to you for events! Common events are bridal parties, bachelorette parties, weddings, sorority events, birthday parties, work events, girls nights, etc. Please email linked.and.layered@gmail.com for specific details and inquiries.
  • DOES IT HURT?
Not at all! A piece of leather is placed between your skin and the chain for protection, as well as wearing eye safety because of the bright weld. A tiny spark happens for a split second along with a “zap” noise, and your piece is welded!
  • DOES ANYTHING AFFECT MY CHAINS?
Yes. Things like body chemistry changes, use of highly fragranced lotion, perfume or body wash, chlorine, sweat, dirt, improper cleaning and care can all cause our 14K gold filled and sterling silver pieces to tarnish or cause a metallic abrasion on your skin. This is not uncommon, and simply just means that you need to clean your jewelry with mild dish soap and warm water using a soft bristle toothbrush. Polishing your chains is also advised as needed. Inside of your take home care package you will find a polishing cloth that can be used for this.
  • CAN MY CHILD GET PERMANENT JEWELRY?
linked+layered serves clients age 13 and up.
  • WHAT IF I NEED TO TAKE MY CHAIN OFF?
Although the name ‘permanent’ is used. Our pieces are simple to remove! Please take a scissors or wire cutter to the small jump ring where your piece was welded and simply cut the ring. Keep your chain though! linked+layered can re-weld your chain for a small fee if you were ever to need to remove your jewelry.
  • CAN EVERYONE GET A PERMANENT JEWELRY PIECE?
No. If you have a pacemaker, you should consult with your doctor before booking an appointment. Also, if you have an MRI, surgery or X-ray scheduled you should also consult with your doctor beforehand.
  • CAN I RETURN MY JEWELRY FOR A REFUND?
No. Because permanent jewelry is custom fit, it is nonrefundable once the chain has been cut.
  • WHAT IF MY CHAIN BREAKS?
Our chains are beautiful, dainty and made to last, but they are not indestructible. The longevity of permanent jewelry is directly influenced by its wearer. Our chains have the possibility of stretching and breaking if they were to get caught or snagged. linked+layered is not responsible for any lost or damaged chains. We do not offer refunds, exchanges, or discounts for lost chains or charms. Our weld points are guaranteed for 14 days with the original chain still in possession. If your piece were to break at the weld point within 14 days of your appointment and you still have your chain in good shape and linked+layered is contacted within that 14 day period, linked+layered will re-weld your piece for no additional cost.
